Catamount Arts Upcoming Exhibits and Shows
For decades, Catamount Arts has stood as the keystone of Northeastern Vermont’s cultural, entertainment, and arts communities. Along with world-class exhibitions by local and regional artists, they also offer a multitude of film screenings, live music, dance, theater, and educational and workshop programming. This November, Stile Antico, a Grammy-nominated Renaissance vocal ensemble, visits Northeastern Vermont to share its refreshing take on Renaissance and Baroque music. The Metropolitan Opera will also transport you back in time to an era long past, in its stunning production of Akhnaten. The production features acrobats and jugglers that helps reimagine ancient Egypt thousands of years ago in a vibrant, mystical way. Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo headlines American composer Philip Glass’s creation with Karen Kamensek conducting. Akhnaten will be performed on Saturday, November 23 and Saturday, November 30 at 12:55PM; tickets are $25. Visit the Catamount Arts website to order tickets. In the Fried Family Gallery, Catamount Arts presents the work of New Yorker Sachiko Akiyama through November 1st. The exhibition, titled Terra Incognita, is a collection of sculpture and prints that is centered around the attributes of reservation, introspection, and passivity as a means to attaining knowledge and wisdom. The collection explores something psychological and spiritual in meaning, and urges viewers to interpret her pieces in multiple ways.
